Dr. Alfredo Hernández Sánchez
I am a computational social scientist examining how ideas and narratives shape political and financial systems. Currently, I hold a Marie Skłodowska-Curie ERA Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University and I am also a Research Fellow at the Barcelona Institute of International Studies. My current project, FIRSA, studies how FinTech regulatory sandboxes have developed across Europe and analyzes how regulators balance promoting innovation with safeguarding financial stability.
My broader research agenda explores how political narratives evolve and impact different policies and institutions, such as central banks and public integrity initiatives. My earlier work focused on the measurement of corruption using large administrative datasets on public procurement.
Alongside research, I have taught several courses on data science for public policy and regularly share open tutorials and visualizations on text analysis inspired by these classes.
